Read the Bible Together
We believe God speaks through his Word. Each week, we open the Bible in small groups and public talks to see who Jesus is and why he matters.
We run regular events on campus every week – keep up to date with what’s going on.
We’re ECU Christian Union: a community of students committed to knowing Jesus and making him known. Uni can be exciting but also overwhelming, and we believe Jesus brings clarity, hope, and purpose to it all. That’s why we meet together—to read the Bible, encourage one another, and share the good news of Jesus with our campus.

Uni is better when it’s shared. We connect over meals, socials, and everyday life – building friendships that encourage and support each other.
We want the good news of Jesus to be heard across our campus. Through events, conversations, and invitations, we share the hope he offers to everyone.
Our group is shaped and led by students, which means uni life and student voices are at the heart of everything we do. At the same time, we’re supported by staff who guide us in reading the Bible, growing in faith, and sharing Jesus on campus. Together, we’re building a community of students leading our mission through partnership with long-term, campus-based AFES staff.
Meet our people
ECU CU is dedicated to serving and loving ECU City in practical and unique ways. So we host events and activities for both students who identify as Christian, and those who are curious to know more about Jesus, God and the Bible. Everyone is welcome. We think the best way to love our campus is to invite everyone to know Jesus, who brings freedom and meaning to our lives.
Our group began at ECU Mt Lawley with a few students wanting to explore Jesus together. Over time, we’ve grown into a community of friends, learners, and leaders — all seeking to make faith meaningful in uni life. There’s a rich history behind how we came to be, and we’d love for you to see it for yourself.
Our history
Our group is part of AFES, a national community of students discovering Jesus together. All AFES groups across Australia stand on the same biblical foundations, seeking to proclaim Jesus faithfully on every campus. Being part of this wider community means we’re connected to other campus groups, supported by experienced staff, and able to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
